Song of the Serpent I am

I slithered from the skin

Where I lived within

And to my lips

An apple I kissed

And with Holy bliss

I tasted all therein

Blind and ignorant days

They built my cage

Far From sight

Away From light

From even night

But soon I did escape

In this I am not wrong

God wills I shall belong

Into life I come

With a wiser tongue

Than all your young

With their shrill, idyllic songs

Your myths I’ll brave

Of Guilt and Shame

I’ll demand above

More joy and love

Than I’m worthy of

And dare you curse my name
